1974 Hale Hall Construction Project

A13a Plywood Forms ReadyIn March 1974 the Church decided to sell its Parish House to the Beverly National Bank and use the funds to excavate a basement under the church building;  The space, named Hale Hall, was and is used for the Sunday school and for special meetings and functions.  Click here to see a photo album of the excavation work done during the Summer of 1974.

  1. Love this, thanks for posting. I lived in Beverly then and remember seeing the work progress. Had never seen a building lifted up for excavation and construction like that. Fascinated me – still does.

  2. As a young man I accompanied my father to see the progress. The building was still only supported by the huge beams, and they had just begun to dig what is now Hale Hall.
